Community Connection & Enrichment
The Community Center is an important gathering spot for all Fishers residents, playing a unique role in our island life. Attend a video conference meeting with Southold, use the fitness center, bring your children to our play room, get creative in the craft room, enjoy a therapeutic massage, join us for a community dinner, bowl a frame, join a local committee meeting, or come down to get some work done in one of our conference rooms. We have daily coffee, freshly baked goodies, the Internet and, of course, our regular summer programming.

PADDLE & PICKLEBALL
LAND ON FISHERS
The Fishers Island Community Center is pleased to announce that after more than 7 years of tireless effort, we now have secured land for the development of a paddle tennis/pickleball facility adjacent to the Community Center. The property is an ideal site for the project and will allow for much needed storage as well as a year round housing opportunity.
- The courts will enhance the Community Center’s programs by adding paddle tennis recreation and increasing pickleball activities.
- The site has an existing storage facility, the “tin building,” which will not only provide a warming hut for the paddle facility, but add much needed storage for the Community Center. At last Jeanie and her team won’t have to worry about where to store outdoor tables and chairs, supplies for the Café, bowling alley, cleaning and painting.
- Most significantly, the property also presents the opportunity to add much needed housing for the year round community with the restoration of Jose’s, later Ed and Cynthia Riley’s, old home on the north end of the property.
While we have completed the purchase of the land in Phase 1, we are now asking for your support to raise the remaining funds needed to install the courts for use this winter. And, Phase 2 supports the most important rebuilding of the year-round residence and the refurbishing of the storage building on the property, as well as providing for an endowment to maintain the courts.

“It’s been wonderful being a part of the Community Center, watching the transformation from its early beginnings as the dilapidated Commissary Building 98 of Fort Wright to it becoming a vibrant part of Fishers Island today. We are constantly working to provide activities and programs everyone in our community can benefit from in some way, whether at a community dinner, gathering for a meeting, using the gym, attending a workshop, or simply as a place to unwind.
It’s a place where you can work, explore and share.
We are grateful to the community who use our resources, our building and to our loyal supporters who help carry out and improve upon our mission.”
