Classic movies at the Community Center!
Join us for Classic Movie Night at the Community Center’s Great Room (upstairs) on Thursdays. Unfortunately, our elevator is not working properly at this time and we are working hard to get it repaired.
All movies start at 7:00PM.
Please wear a mask inside per New York State requirements.
- Doors open at 6:30pm, film at 7:00pm.
- Each movie will have a short introduction by David Hoch, a retired English professor who has taught several different film courses.
BONUS! The Pequot is offering pizza on Thursdays and will deliver to the Community Center in time for the movie. Follow @FINYPIZZA on Instagram for details. Next pizza offered on January 6th.

Thursday, January 13 – The Killers (1946)

Starring Burt Lancaster, Ava Gardner, Edmond O’Brien, Albert Dekker, directed by Robert Siodmak. Based on a Hemingway story, an ex-fighter is found murdered, leading to an investigation. The film boosted Lancaster and Gardner to stardom, and features a great score by Miklos Rozsa.
Thursday, January 20 – The Big Country (1958)

Starring Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons, Charlton Heston, Burl Ives (Oscar), Carroll Baker, Chuck Connors, directed by William Wyler. Ex-sea captain Peck journeys out west to marry Baker and is forced to take sides in a range war. Great cast and memorable Jerome Moross score.

Starring Carl Reiner, Alan Arkin, Eva Marie Saint, Brian Keith, Jonathan Winters, Directed by Norman Jewison. Based on Nathaniel Benchley’s novel The Off-Islanders, a Russian submarine becomes beached on a New England island during the height of the cold war. Similarities to Fishers abound!
Thursday, February 3 – Foreign Correspondent (1940)

Starring Joel McCrea, Laraine Day, Herbert Marshall, George Sanders, Robert Benchley, Edmund Gwenn, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. McCrea in title role becomes enmeshed in a spy ring. Tremendously entertaining with several vintage Hitchcock show pieces.
Thursday, February 10 – The Naked Spur (1953)

Starring James Stewart, Robert Ryan, Janet Leigh, Ralph Meeker, Millard Mitchell, directed by Anthony Mann. Stewart and director Mann made several of the best westerns. This is a tough, hard film about a self-styled bounty hunter out to catch a notorious outlaw, stirring tension among newly acquired “partners.”
