Mystic Seaport Museum is hosting a major monographic exhibition devoted to the watercolors of one Britain’s greatest painters: J.M.W. Turner, and on Thursday, February 6th we organized a tour of the exhibit for 14 Fishers Island residents. We boarded the 12:45 ferry and car pooled to the Seaport where we met Howard Park who was our private docent for the Turner exhibit. Howard gave us a brief history of Turner and then walked us around the exhibit pointing our the detail, color, and atmospheric style of Turner’s painting. Despite the rain and drizzle, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit. We highly recommend people see this unique collection of Turner’s magnificent work until it returns to the Tate after February 23rd.
