Two-hour Whiskey Tasting with whiskey expert John Pohanka. Space for 12 people. $50 per person.
A rare opportunity not to be missed. Guests will indulge their senses with 2 types of Scotch Whiskeys, 2 types of Bourbons, 2 types of Irish Whiskey, 2 types of Rye Whiskey and 2 types of Rum. Come explore and learn to appreciate what you are drinking and taste the differences between some extraordinary whiskeys not commonly available to the general consumer. Sip and savor and learn how to best appreciate what makes each bottle so unique. This is a perfect opportunity for those looking for something a bit more special. Guests will receive light bites in addition to the private collection of John’s Whiskey and Rum.
John Pohanka is a whiskey connoisseur. He has been coming to Fishers island for over 20 years. Many of us are familiar with John as a retired teacher from Suffield Academy. He has been collecting Whiskey for over 10 years, and has in his collection over 350 private bottles of the finest Whiskey ranging from single malts, Irish, Scottish Whiskeys as well as Rye, Bourbon and specialty Rums.
His extensive teaching and knowledge of whiskey gives his tasting participants a unique ability to explore these private labels of whiskey. Come and enjoy, and taste and learn from his private whiskey and rum collection.
This is an educational event which all you need to do is bring your taste buds. All participants must be of legal drinking age.
Note: Whiskey seems to have two different spellings: either whiskey or whisky. Both are correct and the differences refer to their geographic origins. I’m sure John will expand on this if we are curious.
