ICC 2018 offers Artist workshops – a chance for artists of all levels to challenge themselves and share the company of fellow painters.
Howard Park Painting Workshops
Howard Park returns again for his popular watercolor and oil painting classes. These classes focus on three techniques: Line Wash (June) Impressionist Landscape (July) Abstract (August) . Howard will teach week long workshops for each session.
Have a great vacation planned this Summer that you’d like to remember, or do you want to learn to quickly record events and experiences as they happen? Or fill your diary with illustration? Learn simple methods of developing lines, forms and values while making quick sketches with pen and watercolor. These sketches can serve as studies for later paintings, or as records of experiences. Work from photographs, personal objects, or from the out door environment. All levels welcome!
Discover how quickly a scene can be sketched out in oils using rapid and minimal brush strokes. Develop compositions based on simple placement rules, focusing on contrast and expression. Learn to use a limited palette to minimize mixing and match values, tones, highlights and local color. Techniques and demos are applicable for plein air painters or indoor painters working from photographs, in oils or acrylics. All levels welcome!
August 13-17th : 10 am – 3 pm Abstract
Paint the abstract landscape and learn to SEE what you are looking at. By simplifying the landscape into abstract shapes and values that you can rapidly record on paper, or canvas, gives you the advantage of letting your viewer be part of the art process. By not giving too much information, the viewer of your painting will make their own decision of what it is they are seeing.
